Simple, Yet Effective

We’ve just begun another month, yes it’s October. Where is the time going? Anyway, as it just so happens, this month marks my 5th Veganniversary! Wow, it’s been 5 years? Both, with respect to, it’s only been 5 years? And, I can’t believe it’s been 5 years, already? Kind of strange, now that I think about it.

Point is, it’s been 5 years since I started taking animal advocacy seriously, at least personally. My “outreach” could use a lot of work. But, that said, it all started with a “simple, yet effective,” act.  My going vegan. I’ve been rather sensitive to animal issues for going on 15 years, but, speaking from experience, my efforts really didn’t mean much until I swore off all animal consumption. And, honestly, it was, by far, the best decision I’ve ever made.

Enough Already!

Stephen Harper was at it again, talking his shit, this time, at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh last week. And I quote;

“We’re so self-effacing as Canadians that we sometimes forget the assets we do have that other people see. … We are one of the most stable regimes in history. … We also have no history of colonialism. So we have all of the things that many people admire about the great powers but none of the things that threaten or bother them. … Canada is big enough to make a difference but not big enough to threaten anybody. And that is a huge asset if it’s properly used.”

Seriously? And, as arrogant as that “comment” truly was, what is so maddening is the lack of coverage it received. It took a random posting on Facebook, to a commentary, at Queen’s University’s, The Journal, for me, no stranger to Canadian news, to catch such a mis-characterization of Canadian history.

What the hell are you waiting for, Michael? Not that the Liberals are any better, but I’ve had more than enough of this Douche-bag, already…

Powerful and Recommended

I’ve had the opportunity — it would seem to have been awhile ago — to see the documentary Blinders: The Truth Behind the Tradition (YouTube link). And, today, I finally had the chance to listen to Donny Moss (the films “creator”) talking about his movie concerning “New York City’s horse-drawn carriage industry,” on Animal Voices (interview originally posted May 12th, 2009).

Which, subsequent to hearing the show, “inspired” me to watch it once again. It’s a very powerful and highly recommended film, I think, people need to see…

Not so Frequently Asked and it’s Updated

I just updated my F.A.Q. With a couple of new questions and answers. But I expanded/changed on a few answers that didn’t seem so “cute,” or productive, any more. Check it out.

“If there are any other questions you have, please, do not hesitate to ask. It never hurts to ask. It always hurts to assume…”
