Here I Go… Thinking Again

I recently finished reading Joan Dunayer’s book, Speciesism.

“Enslavement is wrong, murder is wrong, and causing innocent beings to suffer is wrong. Fully as much as humans, all nonhumans are entitled to life, freedom, and other basic rights. Humans deny this for only one reason: speciesism.”

Isn’t it a positive sign when a given piece of literature causes a person to actually think about what was “discussed?” I mean really grapple with the issues. By no means was this a casual read for me. I was challenged to contemplate certain aspects of my life and my justification of others. And I’ve come to realize a few foundations were flawed. Prescott Sheldon Bush

I was watching American Morning again this morning. I know, I like shit television. Why not go with the best?

Anyway they cut to the douche bag live from Israel talking out his ass, yet again. Likening his shit talk to a specific presidential wannabe’s (that isn’t a compliment) views to a certain American Senator, who I believe wished he’d talked to Hitler once they invaded Poland. Or some such bullshit. I’m not at all sure of the specifics of said event(s) and believe me I’m the last person to comment on this. But CNN somehow compared his all too familiar stupidity to Barack Obama saying he’d talk to Syria and Iran once elected. Blah, blah, blah… Continue reading Prescott Sheldon Bush

At Long Last

Today I upgraded my WordPress blog software to the current version (2.5.1). Kinda threw me for a loop. Things are not where I left ’em. Just when you’re comfortable using something they go and change it. Just kidding. It’s not like it Microsoft and the changes are from outta left field, or copied from somewhere else. Shit I didn’t really just say that, did I?

Anyway with my news and that lame poke out of the way I should probably note that I was finally and successfully (look at me) able to set up an archive index. Where all my posts are and, from this point on will be organized by the date they were published or by subject (category) they’ve been filed under. Or if you prefer to fuck the whole system you can “search” for whatever you’re after by yourself. At long last. Cool? Continue reading At Long Last

I can’t and won’t speak for anyone but myself. But in my eyes spirituality and religion are two completely separate subjects.

For me spirituality is looking inward and recognizing our connections to each other and this planet and therefore respecting our role as an individuals interacting within nature. Which I believe.

Where I see traditional religion’s role is as primarily looking outwardly for influences to shape a persons understanding of purpose while the need for personal responsibility becomes less and less relevant the harder one tends to rely on it. Which I don’t believe. Continue reading Religions role
