Talk About A Long Time In Coming

Well I’ve been much busier these past two months than I was expecting. In terms of being on this damn computer. I’ve been busy modernizing (a.k.a. Implementing web standards) to my buddy Chris’ business website. It took a really long time for what it is. Don’t get me wrong. I’m quite proud of what I was able to provide. It’s pretty lean and simple. Graphically and from a code perspective. And, for what it’s worth, I’m not finished. It’s just looking back on the whole journey now, it shouldn’t have taken quite so much time. Oh well.

Anyway a friend asked me to help her out with a paper she needs to write for school. She rocked me a set of questions she wants me to answer on mainstream culture and how I, being a “minority” (speaking as a person of difference) “struggles” integrating into society, given those differences. An Alternative Style

I recently became aware of an issue involving my, and I’d imagine other peoples eyes becoming uncomfortable after prolonged viewing exposure to my website. I found a solution using a few bits of PHP and an alternative style sheet to make your time spent here a bit more comfortable.

What that basically means is with some computer code I’ve made it possible for a user to “invert” the display colours by clicking the text link located at the very top, right hand edge of the main box containing each page on this site. I’m working with how the new layout currently displays, but I thought I’d bring it up, while I’m working on it. Continue reading An Alternative Style

Appreciating Effort

I remember being told about a “journal” my family kept for my benefit, chronicling events occurring in the initial month following my accident. And as time “crept” by I, of course forgot all about it. But upon grilling collective members of my kin for details concerning specific events, my sister politely reminded me of it’s existence. Curious as I am, I figured it was time to see it.

Neatly written within the opening paragraph, my mother wrote, “I wanted to let you know what was happening while you were sleeping.” There I sat, by myself at the kitchen table looking through an important piece of personal history. Hardly in a position, then or now (quite fitting actually) to return the warmth I was able to peruse all these many years later. Continue reading Appreciating Effort

Strange Things Happen Everyday

Would’ya look at that? Here I sit, nearly 3 month’s after “launching” this site, only to take it down for what I thought would be a slight “re-tooling.” Silly me, things never go how you expect. I guess all that matters is it’s back up! As a fully functional “blog,” no less. Or at least (with fingers crossed) I hope it “functions” as a blog ‘ought.

Thanks to WordPress, Derek (for needed advice) and a few casual weeks of “diddling,” I was able to, seemingly figure out how to “post” a collection of my ill-informed, insanely biased, alcohol-fueled rants. Continue reading Strange Things Happen Everyday
