Today’s American Morning was a doozy. But instead of feeling utterly infuriated over the sheer stupidity, I was left feeling extremely humbled. Thank you Kiran.
Ms. Chetchry likened her childhood to Comedian Margaret Cho growing up being “embarrassed” of her Korean born parents. “It’s like growing up with the name ‘Kiran’.”
I’ve since thought about it. And it’s not the same. At all. It’s much worse…
I understand why Cho threw her folks under the bus to help deal with her heritage–not that I’m condoning it, or, for that matter the fact that she continues to make light of them all in the name of getting paid–kids can be relentless when it comes to finding a difference and pouncing on a dissimilarity to have their fun. But I’ve never seen anything like the image your admission incites. Damn. Some kids are doomed from the get go, eh Kiran?
