Feeling Much Better Today, Thank You

I’ve managed to lose the headache I picked up yesterday during a trip out to the movies. As I said, last night, I saw Religulous, and while I provided my first impressions shortly after getting home, I steered clear of discussing a point further. Primarily because it required me to do a little “fact-check” prior to me cracking off. And I wasn’t feeling all that inspired to go digging around for what I wanted to share.

But I’m feeling much better today, thank you, so off to work I went…

The Inevitable First Impressions

Religulous...

Unlike the second coming of Christ, you should have known this was coming (too funny, I know), sooner rather than later. I just returned home from seeing the film Religulous. And just as sure you should have been that this was coming you should have been sure I’d have enjoyed myself.

Now the first thing that tested my patience isn’t so much a gripe with the film, per se. I was more an issue with venue itself. Why is the wheelchair “seating” at these obnoxious multi-plex “stadium seating” theatres right up front? I have a screaming headache from my eyes being bombarded with having to look, nearly, straight up at the screen! And it didn’t help that this movie was shown in one of the smaller, back hallway, theatres in the joint. Which, unfortunately, shortens the proximity of the screen to me.

Dig these fucking theatres into the ground some, so those of us who don’t or refuse to use stairs, come into these theatres at the mid-way point. Rather than right up front. I can’t and won’t speak for other blokes who find sitting so close to the screen, while the rest of the theatre is virtually empty, so objectionable. But my ability to see isn’t impaired! At least it wasn’t before the movie. Shit…

Here I Sit

… Awaiting my ride to go see Religulous (I’ve never really been a fan of Bill Maher’s, but I’m anxious to see if Larry Charles’ “Borat” charm will carry over) and, despite such an inconsequential distraction, I find myself intrigued with a breaking news item. That being Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama for President.

OK, before I get too far into this post, I’d like to get something off my chest. I’ve been secretly rooting for Obama. Can you really blame me? I mean if it’s a choice between the “lesser of two evils,” Obama is the better choice, even if any meaningful distinction is only slight. In my mind it’s still a better one. He doesn’t have Palin as a running mate. By that same logic it could be argued “he’s got Biden.” What was my point?

Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’d rather not see either Barack or John in office, at all. But if I was an American and I cared to vote, I’d be tempted to vote Obama. Or would I?

Milestones

Well today’s entry signifies my 100th poorly implemented, half thought-out rambling. And 11 days short of an official year of blogging, too. Not bad, I’d say, considering I hit 50 posts just this past August 13th. Which, in itself demonstrates something, I suppose.

I’ve stepped up my efforts here, primarily, for one reason. I’m making a concentrated effort to “write” much more often than I have in the past, in an effort to better my “skills” at the craft. But, ever more importantly, to learn about and hopefully develop a writing style.

So I can write a book…
