See What I’m Saying?

Feeling a perverse urge to do something I don’t normally do, by “normally do” I of course meant “never do.” So last evening I listened to the radio.

And by me turning my clock radio on, with an actual intent to listen to it, may not seem as strange as it necessarily was. But, understand, I haven’t listened to the radio (minus the bits of 680News I hear while in the van) in maybe 5 years? And it was, probably, another 5 before that? I’m not a fan of radio. For no other reason than I never have been. I’ve no idea why. Just the way it is.

Anyway not my point. A Toronto newspaper, which I’ve always known as kind of a joke, ran a commercial while I was listening…

The Evils Of Transgenics

Yesterday I mentioned The Angry Hippie‘s most recent podcast, Episode 30, where he partook in a conversation with Science Dude about transgenics. I eluded to the podcast inciting some questions, most of which are irrelevant now, after listening to it once again.

And like The Angry Hippie, I, too was under the impression transgenics or GMOs were a counter productive measure for making a buck at the expense of nature. And we, as humans, were merely trying to “force evolution.” Turns out my uninformed fear of something I so obviously didn’t understand was, at least, primarily unfounded.

Something I Should Address

On Friday I downloaded and listened to the Angry Hippie‘s latest podcast, “Episode 30.” In it he made mention “White Privilege” and had a talk with the “Science Dude” about transgenics (GMOs). Quiet an invigorating hour and a few minutes.

My initial impression from hearing said podcast raised some questions regarding transgenics specifically. While still relevant, I further thought it through, and decided what was discussed on matters of “White Privilege” are that much more important and, potentially (where the 2008 US election is concerned), costly.

I’ll write about that today…

Proposition 8

For those who aren’t aware Proposition 8 is “an initiative measure on the 2008 California General Election ballot titled Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry.” And on November 4, while Americans are electing a clean douche bag to replace the dirty douche bag, Californians will be voting on a couple other measures, too.

Now the only reason I, as non-californian, not to mention a non-American, is even aware of such a pathetic “initiative” is Proposition 2. Something that has made it’s rounds on websites I frequent…
