There’s Always Next Year

Yesterday represented my first real “break” in writing on a daily basis. And 6 days short of full month! Aside from that fart, on August the 23rd, I’ve posted every single day since August 12th. Quite a stretch. But with my vacation over, I’m right back at it today.

So my “time off” was spent trekking into the city to attend the 24th Annual Vegetarian Food Fair in Toronto. It’s been quite some time since I’ve actually been to the city, a few years at least, and it felt oddly visceral. It was the same but it wasn’t?

Those Eyes

So here we are in 2008, actually being subjected to one bad Hollywood blockbuster after another. And as much as it pains me to say it, I will. The thing I wanted most as a youngster, wicked special effects, has murdered the art of film.

I’m not, at all insinuating that all movies produced since 1997, say (Hint, hint) are all bad. I just feel a lot of the worst — modern horror and science-fiction features especially — wouldn’t even be entertained in the first place if it wasn’t for Hollywood’s seeming ability and weak attempts to hide shit writing and/or directing.

I was hoping with all my might that it would change. But it hasn’t…

Would You Look At That, I Am Human

Last night I happened to see Michael Phelps win his 7th gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. Through fluke more than anything really. Honestly I’m not a fan of sport, least of all the Olympics. And especially this years round.
