As with most days, today didn’t disappoint, I received my ZNet Daily Commentary in my inbox. Nice an convenient like. The latest installment, titled “A Beardful of Bunkum” by George Monbiot, dealt with an ever increasingly serious issue. Global warming. But with a twist. George wrote about the absurd position people are, not only still believing, but still getting coverage while talking their shit.

Here I sit, a good 1.5 hour car drive north of the city my “dashboard” temperature reading is apparently representing, where it says the expected high today is 12 degrees Celsius. That’s 50 odd degrees Fahrenheit. On December 28th!

For those unfamiliar with what I’m getting at or, more specifically, what one should expect from a good ‘ol  Canadian winter, this, my friend, is total insanity. What was, probably, 4 feet of snow, not a couple of days ago is now, barely, 2 feet high and shrinking. This isn’t natural or an anomaly, by any stretch of my imagination, given recent winters.

And global warming is a myth?

Appreciating Consequences

I’m quite sure you’ve all seen the Bush shoe throwing incident by now. It should be no surprise, I thought, it was incredibly funny. I actually almost fell out of my chair laughing. And all before learning of the “cultural significance” of what happened, too;

“It’s that cultural significance that has added real sting to the assault by an Iraqi journalist against US President George W Bush at a Baghdad news conference. […] In Arab culture it’s considered rude even to display the sole of one’s shoe to a fellow human being…”

Damn. He was embarrassed, ashamed, and most evident was, he was pissed. Looked good on him. Stupid ass finally appreciates the consequences off his actions.

But come on. Bush Shoe-Thrower ‘Tortured’? This has Bush’s pathetic, insecure, and scared little finger prints all over it. Keep pushing, George, you’ll get yours.

Today I had great opportunity to watch Pixar’s latest film Wall-E. Twice. Once “bareback.” And the second with “Film Makers” “commentary” turned on.

Now I’ve been a pretty big fan of Pixar’s, even before “witnessing” the first Toy Story, back in 95. I’d been hearing rumblings of what they were trying to accomplish for sometime prior to the films release. And frankly, even though I never much thought about computers before 1995, something about trying to animate a full featured film immediately grabbed my attention. I just had to see it…
