Ready To Post

Wow, been neglecting this blog for far too long. Been busy. I know, blah, blah, blah…

For those paying attention stuff is a little different here. I read an extremely important book on Web Accessibility. Jeremy J. Sydik’s Designing Accessible Web Sites, Thirty-six Keys to Creating Content for All Audiences and Platforms. And upon finishing said book, not to mention a few others, I decided to do a complete redo of the foundation this site sits a top. It won’t appear much different, at least structurally and graphically. But typographically (a.k.a. readability) it has been greatly improved upon. As well as some “back-end” WordPress going’s on. Oops

The website I mentioned in my last post proved more valuable than, even I had anticipated. It was great practice, sure, but having an audience using what I’ve created and who actually care if it works seems to make a gigantic difference.

Soon after posting the website the complaints came a flooding in. Well one trickled in a couple days later. But that isn’t any less significant. There was a problem. And a major one. His contact forms were failing to display properly in Internet Explorer. Go figure. Anyway the problem was they were left pretty much unusable. In my opinion. All kidding aside it is no-one’s fault but my own. Sorry Chris. Continue reading Oops

Determination

I briefly visited this in the first “edition” of this site. Back in the day. Before it was a blog. And when I was rooting around in my hard drive, I relocated it. Bam!

“How can he declare his existence as ‘unbounded’ when he uses a wheelchair as his only means of mobility?” I can hear it now. A tad shorter in length. With a slightly more urgent tone. “What the fuck? Is he serious?”

For what it’s worth, I didn’t choose the word “unbounded.” It was a term La La used when I asked how she’d describe me upon registering the domain for this website. And plopping the “existence” on the end was the next logical step after looking up “unbounded.com” and seeing it was already registered. Besides I like the ring of “UnboundedExistence.com.” So does Spags…

But seriously… Continue reading Determination

Dangler To The Rescue

So I’ve finally had an opportunity to “test” my site in a full gamut of web browsers. And I’m happy to report the largest display issues have been resolved across the board. Is it perfect? No. I still have some “tweeking” to do, but I’m feeling a lot better about what any one visitor might see. Now I know what to expect. Thanks yet again to the infamous Derk Dangler…

Now before I tear off into rant about how a certain software vendor makes my life, and from what I still continue to read, lives of a great many people frustrating, I think it would be of interest to someone to point at Eric Meyer’s blog post, “Bad Timing.” And this has as much to do with me as it does anyone. I’ve taken my fair shot at Microsoft over Internet Explorer. But I’ve tried, really hard to keep it civilized. Eric raises a valid point;

“If you think web development is horrible now, how about a future where there literally are entirely different browsers to support? Or a future where the open web is largely shriveled and dead thanks to wide-scale abandonment by the Windows community?” Continue reading Dangler To The Rescue
