CCF Must Think ‘Consumers’ Are Stupid?

Look what I found. An article over at Green Is The New Red titled “Full-page New York Times Ad Calls Humane Society ‘Terrorists.’” What’s wrong with people?

Now this may seem strange, me coming to the defense of the HSUS for being criticized, by anyone. Hell, I’m guilty of voicing my opinion against them, too.

My problems with the Humane Society, and PeTA to a greater extent, are merely how they’ve chosen to accomplish their respective missions. I don’t disagree with their goals. In fact I, most certainly, have embraced them. I’m a vegan. Trying to do what I can, for the billions upon billions of land and sea creatures that are slaughtered each and every year, not because of a need for human sustenance, per se, but peoples perverse taste? It’s just wrong. And it needs to stop! I’m sorry, but any organization touting the new welfarist approach as a justifiable alternative to “business as usual” ain’t got their heads on right. “There’s no such thing as humane meat.”

Be that as it may, when a bunch of needledick corporate idiots, a “group that represents the fast food, meat and dairy industries,” so blatantly tries to label anyone for being something that I’ve failed to grasp, even by the largest stretch of my imagination, I have to say something. Not only are a vice president of the Humane Society ties to “terrorism” weak, at best, but the conviction of the SHAC group at the centre of all this bullshit is severely problematic.

“It’s a sad day,” Indeed…

Brilliant Idea

The day before yesterday, I believe, I learned of a fabulous program called “Shooting Back.” The Israeli Human Rights Organization, B’Tselem, has “supplied almost 100 video cameras to vulnerable Palestinian communities in Hebron, the northern West Bank and elsewhere, to document and gather evidence of assaults and abusive behaviour – largely by settlers.” “Giving a voice to those who have been voiceless for so long.”

The Israeli blockade of Gaza makes a little more sense to yours truly, now, given this…

Over A Bag Of Carrots

I would be hard pressed to argue the fact that people become, exponentially, more corrupt the older they grow. Not everyone is like that, I know, but most people do grow at least somewhat jaded as the years pass by. Not that I blame a person for it, so much, it’s next to impossible to avoid.

Like Smacks once told me, each day, he can see, in his sons eyes, the effect this world has on his innocence. That is so truly sad. But then something happens that rekindles your hope for humanity.

Yesterday I was out shopping for food at a local grocery store. I usually go with my attendant. And I use La La as a base of operations and a reference. She usually handles the list. While I scout stuff I can reach and handle.

Anyway I needed some carrots and bread. So off I went. First I came upon the carrots. For the sake of convenience, my convenience, I usually but pre-bagged carrots. That way I don’t have to be bothered to rip a plastic bag off the dispenser, fiddle with holding it, while bagging my own. And I recycle the bag anyway. Well I throw it in my “blue” box and someone collects it. It’s just easier that way…

About Bloody Time

Of course the title of this here post is meant to be read with a sarcastic eye. This, most likely, won’t amount to much, if anything. But I, for one, hope it does. And it’s, dare I say it, nice to think about. Straight from today’s “headlines” at DemocracyNow.org;

“A top UN human rights official says Israel’s policies towards Palestinians amount to a “crime against humanity” and should be stopped by international action. Human Rights rapporteur Richard Falk made the comments in a report to the UN Human Rights Council. Falk urged the UN to invoke “the agreed norm of a responsibility to protect a civilian population being collectively punished.” He also called for an International Criminal Court investigation of Israeli military and civilian officials for potential prosecution…”

Read the article appearing today over at Al Jazeera English. about this very news story…
