Have you seen T. Boone Pickens’ on TV touting his plan to switch from a dependence on foreign oil to an energy “strategy” based on wind? I remember thinking to myself “could you [The U.S.] even do that?” Not really my point. But It seems that’s not all keeping a “Greasy Man” busy these days.
On Friday Democracy Now ran a bit on the film “FLOW: For Love Of Water.” AÂ new documentary citing a global water crisis and the growing reality of a “global water cartel.” Frightening…Â
Maude Barlow, founder of the Blue Planet Project mentioned Pickens and his scooping up water rights as a first step in wanting to build a pipeline in attempts to privatize water and line his pockets by holding our right to clean and accessible water hostage. She didn’t put it quite as bluntly as that. I did. But by me making that indiscretion doesn’t make it any less true, does it?
Greed and a seeming impetus to profit from anything that could be held for ransom is a common theme in todays world. And at any cost, right? And water is such an important element of life people will pay for it. If forced to. It hardly seems that far fetched.
What’s worse is it has begun, thanks to Coke, Pepsi, and Nestle, and I really don’t foresee it taking that long to accomplish…
